Please Read This Book!
Original. Compelling. Funny. Sad. Showing the power behind Woman. Reads like a novel. It is life. The life of one woman, reflecting the lives of each one of us.Are you considering ordering it? Please, read this book. It will do you so much good.Colleen is deeply honest, transparent even. She doesn't need to paint herself as the hero of her story, or promote herself. Or apologize. Her life speaks for itself, lyrically, conversationally. How brilliant to weave yoga into the context of supporting life's path, in a real-time, here and now, gritty kinda way. It really, really works.I would just love to take a yoga class with Colleen. She's the real deal. No posturing ;)I'm so grateful that Marie Forleo had Colleen on her show to speak about this book. It otherwise would have been unknown to me.And so grateful to Colleen for having the immense courage it takes to allow herself to be an instrument through which others can hear a new song, via creating this book.

West Meets East
Colleen Saidman Yee has woven together the threads of a remarkable life with humor and insight. The through lines of her memoir are stitched together chapter by chapter in themes familiar to us all. By demystifying the practice of Yoga and binding it to what we feel and think in our daily lives this book opens a unique door between eastern philosophy and yoga practice to the emotional journey of western life. Colleen Saidman Yee is a unique observer of the human condition. In Yoga for Life we see first hand how love, hard work and intuition come together to build sequences that not only guide our physical health but address the emotions surrounded by the powerful transitions and trials we live through day to day. This is both a marvelous practical guide to understanding how we can use yogic practice to focus and heal, alongside a memoir of a life truly worth reading about. It is spiced with insightful quotes that offer surprising moments of reverie. It is a delight to read

I really enjoyed this book
I really enjoyed this book. It was part memoir, part yoga practice. I found Colleen's story to be intriguing and even inspiring -she laid it all out there, the good, the bad and the ugly. She wasn't afraid to write about mistakes she'd made and regrets she has, and yet she kept moving forward in life and learning through her prior mistakes. It was a humble and inspiring read. And the yoga workouts are very well photographed and easy to follow. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others who want to do some healing through yoga.

It is ... and ... is not
It's interesting to see people that we've either come into contact with on a personal level or through the media via magazines, movies, authors and other personalities and then be invited to read their story. I've seen Colleen my entire life as she's graced the pages of countless magazines and clothing catalogs. When I saw that she wrote a book, I wanted to know her story.I'm not a big fan of yoga simply because my exercise of choice in my past was aerobics and weight training however, I'm now 52 years old and somehow slowing down, paying attention to the subtle changes of my body and inviting a new way of responding to the requests of a slower and simpler way of life, is captivating me. I want to take the time to listen, intuit and acknowledge the amazing changes in my body and allow my soul ... my spirit to honor those changes. This book was ... and ... was not for me.It was an easy read. It was easy to interpret the exercises and easy to understand the positions. I appreciated Colleen's personal story and her raw account of the spaces and places in her life that she shared and then invited a series of yoga moves to support those places and spaces. As a reader and a seeker of a new way of responding to my body, I appreciated very much the interpretations of the moves and how they would support me. I loved that! This book was not an engaging read or a page turner. It's not that kind of book. It's very "Matter of fact" and shared in a way that told a story and that's all. It lacked insightful emotion that invited me to tap into my own spirituality and yet, the point got across and I got it!I love a book that I could replace the main character in the story with myself and then in turn, use the characters life lessons and experiences as a metaphor to my own enlightenment and healing. This book did not provide that for me. I am far from a model ... far, FAR!!! I am not a world traveler and I do not have any of the physical challenges that Colleen has experienced. I could not put myself in her shoes and then use her experiences to help me navigate my own life. I just could not identify with her and yet, each chapter unfolds an opportunity to identify with myself.I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone even though it lacked a few things for me. As the reader, it will satisfy all that you are looking for if you are seeking and it will support your physical body through the wide range of yoga moves. You'll get to know Colleen, her commitment to sharing yoga with the world and her passion to support and heal the world around her. It's a good read. You won't be disappointed.

One of my most favorite books!!!
I absolutely love this book--it is probably one of my favorite books ever. Colleen's story is honest, real, engaging, and makes you think about your life. She writes so conversationally--it seems like she is sitting next to you and telling you about her life over a cup of coffee or something. Colleen's story inspired me to pick my yoga practice back up and think about my life in a different way. I love the variety of yoga sequences she has in her book; I only wish they were on a poster or something, because it's hard to follow them while you're in the middle of a sequence as they span multiple pages and the book likes to try and close unless you pin the corners down with heavy objects!Amazing book. Transformative. Read it!
