Please, buy the book. For real. I can't say enough good stuff about it.
This book is incredibly amazing. I read it for the first time last year and then re-read it again this year and will most likely read it again next year. The first time I read it I told everyone around me stories about it. Then I passed the book around and a whole group of family and friends read it. Then I gave my copy away and bought another copy. I'll probably be giving this copy away eventually and then I'll buy another one. Really though, I'm happy to buy more copies from time to time because all of the money the book makes goes towards building schools for children Uganda. (The book has sold over a million copies, by the way.)Bob Goff narrates the book in an easy-going, personal, down-to-earth style. His life is packed with the extraordinary because he refuses to live life in an average way. When he decides he wants to do something, he does it and he does it with love. I'm challenged to LIVE out love every time I pick up "Love Does" because living a life full of God's love really does change everything.Bob Goff words brim with love and enthusiasm for people, *all* people. It's so extremely clear that he understands that people, not things, are the most important things in life. His stories are extremely mind boggling, and I don't say that lightly. The first time I read the book my mouth kept falling open and I'd have to put the book down to run and tell a sibling all about what had just happened. And then find someone else and tell them about it. Even now, in my second read through, I want to tell everyone about it because it's *that* good!I was shocked when I looked at Amazon and saw that some there were some 1 and 2 star reviews. (Although 86% are 5 star and 9% are 4 star.) After thinking about it for a while, I realized that some people were reading the book with the wrong attitude in mind (some people commented that it was a book of Bob bragging). When I read the book I was totally challenged to have a love that does, not just is. Bob talks about great things he's done, but I never felt it was in a bragging way... Instead it felt like he was so incredibly excited and enthusiastic about living the life that God has for him that he wants to do anything and everything he can to help other people live the life that God meant for them to live, as well.Take for instance the fact that he put his personal cell phone number in the back of the book and said "If I can do anything at all to help you or if you just want to say 'hey,' then go ahead and give me a call." And then he always answers the phone. I was watching an interview and he says he gets around 100 calls each day and he always answers the phone, even if it's in the middle of the night. That, my friends, is an incredible way to live a life of love. He's a lawyer (the story of how he became one is, in and of itself, worth buying the book to read), and he regularly travels to Uganda to help the children there. The average age of the population in Uganda is 14 because the country has been torn apart by war. Bob talks about how when he first went over there were tons of kids in prison, so he began looking into what that was all about. It turns out that the kids were being put in prison for extremely small things (such as if a parent complained about how a teenage boy looked at their daughter, then the boy would go to prison), and there wasn't a system in place, so the kids just sat there... for literally years. So he came back to the USA and gathered a group of lawyers and judges and then went over to Uganda together and got a court in session and began trying the cases and setting dozens of children free. Then of course they needed to build a school for the kids (hence where the proceeds from this book go), and I could go on and on, but really, you should just read this book for yourself.I have a feeling that this book isn't going to be very coherent because I'm so very amazed and happy buy it. Really, you should just go buy it and be challenged and laugh a ton and change the way you see life and then change the way you live life. Also, you should look "Bob Goff" up on YouTube. Here's one of his talks:[...] (Please note, although he is very sensitive with what he says, the story might not be appropriate for children.)And now, please buy the book.

Life-Changing, Joy-Filled, and Absolutely Inspiring!
Love Does by Bob Goff is one of those rare books that makes you laugh, cry, and want to live life with more purpose—all at the same time. Goff's storytelling is nothing short of incredible. Each chapter is a real-life adventure, filled with unexpected twists, heartfelt moments, and a powerful message about love in action. What I love most is how Goff doesn’t just talk about love—he does love. His stories, whether about sneaking into law school, throwing whimsical parades, or befriending world leaders, all highlight the beauty of saying “yes” to life and stepping into the extraordinary, even in the ordinary. It’s not a book about complicated theology—it’s about doing love in everyday life in simple, bold, and sometimes hilarious ways. This book challenged me to stop overthinking and start doing—to love people fully, to chase after adventure, and to live with childlike wonder. It’s a must-read for anyone looking for inspiration, encouragement, and a reminder that love isn’t just something we feel—it’s something we do.Highly recommend! 💛

This memoir. So beautifully written, so inspiring, and so full of Jesus.
I was introduced to Bob Goff’s memoir, Love Does, by my most faithful friend, and we were immediately intrigued by this narrative. So, when we were asked to choose a memoir to read in English class, we chose this one. We took this opportunity so our faith could deepen and so we could live a life according to His will. This book contains admirable stories from Goff’s life testimony resulting in powerful and convicting messages about faith. More importantly, we learn that Love Does. Goff lived a crazy life: He brought the Coast Guard to a marriage proposal, he founded a school system in Uganda, he and his family met with government leaders worldwide, he unwittingly became the Ugandan Consul, he was admitted into law school by standing outside the Dean’s office for weeks, and he crewed a sailboat from Los Angeles to Hawaii with no sailing experience. While these stories already had me on the edge of my seat, the messages Goff imparts from these experiences are even more powerful. The ability Goff has to turn a short, sometimes insignificant story into a stunning message about living for God is breathtaking and left me in awe.Goff taught us that Love Does. Love is a verb. Love is an action. Love is doing something that shouts your passion for all to hear. This book taught me how to say YES.Love Does is full of wisdom, love, and conviction. My relationship with Jesus grew substantially after reading this book. Now that I know Love Does, I can live happily, abundantly, and generously.A possible drawback you may find is the overall syntax/organization of the book. Every chapter has one anecdote and a related message following, causing me to find myself sometimes bored and inattentive because of the repetitiveness. However, the messages stemming from his anecdotes trump all syntax drawbacks. In all honesty, I didn’t even feel I was reading a book. Instead, I felt I was there, with Bob, doing countless, ludicrous, and spontaneous things while still giving all the glory to God.After finishing this memoir, I was inspired and therefore determined to find out how I can implement the message that Love Does into my life. Goff does a highly developed job at portraying Jesus’ love on paper...God is IN this book. Through and through, cover to cover. I am confident that, like me, you will feel motivated to DO something representing your love for Jesus.Overall, I give this book a big YES. If you’re looking to deepen or even start your relationship with Jesus, I highly recommend Bob Goff’s memoir, Love Does.
