They are medium weight. Not thin like a dress sock material, but not thick like a wool sock. They are cushioned well but not bulky.

I suffer from inflammatory metatarsalgia. The bones in my feet often work themselves out of alignment, and of course, cause pain. I have tried several different brands of cushioned, athletic and [so called] compression "no show" socks. I have paid anywhere from $15 for a 3-6 pack of socks to $15 for 1 (yes ONE) PAIR of socks. These, by far, outshine the rest. They're "cushioned" under the ball of the foot and toes. As well as, under the heel. They provide just the slightest compression around the arch making your foot feel like it is being hugged. They are not so thick that I feel any difference in the shoes that I wear. For my pain they appear to be just the right thicknessI absolutely LOVE these socks. Can't live without them.

I also have the long Dr Motion socks and much prefer them. The compression level of these short socks feels much lower. But I don't have precise measurement data

I wear tennis shoes, and they worked very well. Many very low cut socks slide down into my shoes, which I can’t stand! These do not. My daughter, the pastry chef, loves them because of the arch support provided for her in her work shoes all day in the bakery. Remember however, these socks run small. They do not fit my size 10 foot. The arch does not hit my foot in the correct place to help lift it, and it crunches my toes back and crunches across the foot in the toebox region. My daughter wears a size 8 1/2 and they fit her beautifully. I handed down all my Dr. Motion socks to her. She’s a very happy camper!
