Q: Is the picture displayed in the ad representative of what the actual feed looks like?

With this brand my experience is that "it depends." See the other a photo review from a different customer where there is excessive dust in the bag. This was my experience as well. When it's good, it's great, but when you get a bad bag it's a tremendous waste. I tried to ferment one bag that had excessive dust and the powder at the bottom turned into a kind of cement after soaking for 24-36 hours. It stuck to the bottom of the plastic container that I was using and after rinsing I couldn't scrape it off with a metal spoon no matter how much force I applied by hand. No wonder my birds wouldn't eat it. I have ordered several New Country Organics bags both through Amazon and direct. Again, sometimes the product does come as photographed, and when it does my birds seem healthier and happier all around. When I get a bag with excessive dust however, they pick around it and refuse to eat any of that sediment. Again, when I try to ferment it, it looks and acts like sand and cement. I'd have to take it somewhere for further analysis to determine what it is exactly that is inedible and weighing the bags down. I want to love this brand but experiences like this make it very hard for me.
