I am trying to replace the top part. tnx** A: 2 inches. I did the same and changed the tops with solenoid and diaphragm. Nice thing is the new valves come with hex screws for a nice upgrade. **Q: Is this connection a slip joint or threaded?** A: I believe this is the threaded, NOT slip-jointed, one. I got two valves with my order one with the threads and one with the threads. I only needed the top part of the unit, so either unit worked for me. If you look at the video with this product description, at some point he does turn the valve enough to show the threads. The other valve I got did say in its description that it was a slip joint unit. **Q: Valve will not shut off** A: 99% of the time this is due to debris getting inside the valve during installation, a repair down stream, or just debris/sediment loosening from pipe walls and getting stuck in the valves diaphragm. Simply remove the 4 screws to service and clean. Replaced the solenoid and diagram. No leaks no problems. So I bought the valve then I have a replacement body and the diaphragm along with the solenoid, all spare parts for future repairs. I’ve had the Hunter valves in for about 15 years. This is the first time I’m making repairs to the solenoids. They’ve worked flawlessly. I highly recommend them. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Complete assemby (valve and solenoid) at lower cost than parts, Easy Installation *by on Reviewed in the United States May 11, 2026* When turning on lawn irrigation system, one zone would not function. After some quick on line searching isolated the problem to a malfunctioning solenoid on the sprinkler valve for this zone. This part fit was exactly like the original. The big advantage to using this for the repair is that I did not have to remove the old assembly completely which meant I didn't have to dig up the pipes connecting to the valve assembly. Simply removed the top part (which has the solenoid) and then put in the top part of the new assembly (with the valve and solenoid). The installation was simple and straightforward. Checked after install and no leaking. The price of this entire assembly with the valve and solenoid was less than some other places for either the valve or solenoid by themselves.
