    NOT worth 9.99: Short story, reference, no real characters

This is a diary, and as such each “chapter” is a day. Some are very short.It is well written, but there are a few things I didn’t like.1. There is a feeling of “reading” about events after they have already happened. You don’t feel in the action as much.2. As this is a diary, you don’t typically record dialog word for word, which is consistent here. That means you have almost no dialog (maybe none).3. There wasn’t anything new revealed about summoning or the world mechanics. It seems to be a step back in knowledge from the other books along with the step back in time.Might be worth a read if you didn’t have anything else to read.

A must for anyone who is a fan of the series. It includes the diary of James Baker, a complete and illustrated list of ALL known demons, and an illustrated list of ALL known spells. This was most definitely money well spent.

I loved Taran Matheau's return to the Summoner series with this reproduction of James Baker's journal that taught Fletcher so well.  The book includes additional writings from Fletcher's father and a comprehensive guide to known demons in the back.  An enjoyable addition to any fan of the Summoner series.
