The measuring cups are two tiered so that the bottom tier is half of each cup. The bottom tier is also indented at the top of each cup so when looking into each, the indent is marked with the half measurement for each cup. So, the one cup bottom tier is marked "1/2 cup" - see attached pics. Highly recommended if you're in need of a measuring cup and spoon set.
