## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do they stand up to heat?**
A: I use Neos on oil filters without a problem. Any fine ferrous material in the oil stops there. I use 1" dia x 1/2 thick 45lb pull Neos. (Strong enough to put on a closed steel tool box and pull tools to the top from the top tray inside the tool box.) No noticeable degradation in strength over 30,000 miles (car) 25,000 miles (water cooled motorcycle). As for actual temp, I would suspect much higher temp than what I run them at (180F or so), they would begin to lose their magic.

**Q: What is the actual size?...Anybody counter sink these with forstner bit?...If so, what size bit?..Thanks!**
A: I used a 1.25" forstner bit and it was a fraction too small. Had to carve them out a bit too get the magnets to fit. These claim they're 1.26" in diameter and i believe that's accurate.

**Q: Will they work with a 1inch  piece of wood between them**
A: magnetic force dies off at the rate of about 1/r with r raised to the 4th power so the greater the 'r', the distance to the item attracted, then the attraction is reduced by a huge amount... Hold two magnets an inch apart and feel how week the force is between them, either attractive or repulsive, then try bringing them within an 8th of an inch of each other and see how the force increases!

**Q: Is there a trick for separating them? I struggle to pull them apart.**
A: I found sliding them off one at a time works best. Once you slide one off the top a couple of centimeters, you can separate them by pushing a thin piece of plastic between them - like a guitar pick or a tiddlywink.

There is no joke in saying these are powerful magnets. I got mine 10 minutes ago and I couldn't wait to play with them like a kid! I got them for my metal embroidery hoop. I wanted something strong to really hold down fabric because if it shifts mid-sewing, it can be ruined. I read what the seller said about using the spacers, I was putting the 6th one back on the stack to set down and from at least 6 inches away the 1 disc slipped out of my fingers and snapped onto the stack. It was the most powerful thing I've handled with magnets! I didn't mean to do it, of course. Then it took forEVER to break the top 2 apart. I couldn't slide it forward. I finally got it, but I think I wore out my right hand lol! I did a hand test where I put 1 on top of my hand and the other on my palm. The strength was definitely weaker, but it held. I don't have my metal hoop yet to say how good it is for my purposes. But like a kid, I kept trying different metals I have here on my desk. I will NOT try this on my fridge because I probably won't be able to get it back off. These aren't complaints, these are compliments. 1 disc did come with 2 chips in the edge, but it seems stable, they are very tiny. I can't image being the sorter who has to pry apart stacks of these for customers.
