I can't hear my partner talking if I'm listening to music with those, but I can tell that she's talking to me when I'm wearing the HD668B. She has also commented on how loud I listen to music while wearing them, though not with my audio-technica models. Perhaps something others can relate to, I've tried to convince myself to give away some of my headphones (in part to justify buying new ones) but cannot make myself give these up.
