Any advice much appreciated.** A: Most materials will be fine. I have tried to line one with blackout material for a children's room. owing yo the two thicknesses it does not work very well and one side tends to crease as you roll it up. Clearly not a good idea. Also the weight caused it to fall down once. Hope you do well. **Q: can any thickness of material be used with this kit? Any advice much appreciated.** A: Used a material thicker than a conventional bought blind and it was fine. Quite a heavy linen curtain fabric. **Q: is there a way of shortening the bar so that it would fit a window 85cm across?** A: Yes, you can easily cut the bar down with a hacksaw to fit. The end fitting can then slot back in. **Q: How long is the chain? Just tried to buy from dunelm but their chain is onlt 29inches, far too short for our needs** A: I have measured the chain from its hanging position and the complete loop is hanging approx. 38-40 inches from the roller. It's made of white plastic. I think John Lewis stocks them with a metal chain, not sure, but worth looking on line..
