Review: Incredible for the price. - I've had a few and gave them away but I'm keeping this one. If you're not a techie get the loaded SD card or else it's not going to be much fun for you. If you are into tech then install OnionOS and load it up with all the roms you can find. PS1 is the most powerful system it emulates and it does it well. I have a couple other recent model handhelds that are bigger and more expensive that I don't like taking out of the house, this one fits into my pocket easily and I won't be too upset if it's lost or damaged.
Review: v4 is tiny, only good if you have at least one other handheld - UPDATE: I’ve been keeping this in my EDC bag. It fits where my MM+ does not, meaning I’ve actually ended up using this a little more than my Plus to my surprise. It is in fact good for RPGs, but I’ve also played Mario and Donkey Kong on it without issue. Overall, I’m pleased. Just keep the poor QA in mind before purchasing. EDIT: I have ultimately decided to keep the white Mini v4 after spending some more time using it. For whatever reason I can’t bring myself to part with it even though it’s pretty impractical (and only about $5 less than the MM+). I definitely wouldn’t want it as a standalone device. You need something a little larger to comfortably play at home, but the v4’s compact size is too appealing and pocketable to ignore. I can see myself potentially taking it with me out and about, but we shall see. It’s supposedly perfect for RPGs. Even if I don’t use it regularly, it’s still a decent-enough back-up if something goes wrong with my Plus. I may even end up selling the v4 in a few years after the remaining stock is gone, and they’re difficult to find. Side note: it’s very easy to spend 3x the price of the actual handheld on modifications. The mod products are rather pricey in relation to the cheap price of the device. I spent $35 on the upgraded buttons for my MM+ alone. Just keep that in mind. A microfiber sunglasses sleeve works well as a thin layer of protection for the Mini, and even the MM+, depending on the size of the sleeve. It’s not a perfect fit length-wise, but the Goodr one I have is spot-on for the width. If you have one lying around, give it a try. You can’t beat free. FURTHER EDIT: After a few returns, I have received a quality device. Whew, a lot of trouble, but I really wanted one of the minis. Ended up with a white unit. It’ll do. Turns out the white and yellow have the same type of finish on them, matte, not as sleek or shiny as the transparent models. I initially thought the yellow one I received from a different seller seemed off due to the texture and overall feel of the unit, but that’s just how they are. I am so relieved I managed to get a good-quality v4 before they’re all sold out so I could really see what it’s like to play, but truthfully, I’m not all that impressed. Let’s be real; it’s more of a novelty item at this point. If you didn’t buy one when they were first released, you’re probably not going to appreciate it as much because there are “better” alternatives available now for about the same price (MM+ for example). The Mini is really almost too small for comfortable two-handed play. The Plus is much more ergonomic with a larger screen while still being portable. It feels better in my hands, and overall it’s just more enjoyable to play. It’s honestly the perfect beginner device. I’ve even modded the buttons which has given the cheap device a more premium feel. I’d recommend the Plus over the Mini for most situations. I have attached a photo of the v4 next to my MM+ for reference. Spend your money more wisely unless you are a long-time lover of the Mini or have extra cash sitting around begging to be spent; it probably won’t cut it as a standalone handheld for the majority of people just entering the retro gaming scene in 2025. I now kind of understand why Miyoo made the decision to discontinue the Mini. Those who wanted one, bought one when they were released, and they are probably the only people still consistently buying them to replace their old ones out of some kind of sentiment or because they’re just used to it. Well, them and people like me who wanna get in on the action, and then end up disappointed because it doesn’t live up to the hype. The customer-base for this particular model is probably drying up at this point. It’s a buy-it-just-to-have-it thing for me, something that may not get a whole lot of use, but the sheer cuteness of it makes it hard to give up. I say that as a newcomer to retro gaming. The sentimentality of the mini is lost on me because I simply just wasn’t there. As someone who isn’t blinded by the novelty of the mini, the MM+ is truly a much better device in almost every way. The only true difference is the larger size which doesn’t allow you to slide it as effortlessly into a pocket. Some women’s pockets are a concern as usual. That’s not something I’d probably do or recommend anyway, however, considering these devices are notorious for being fragile. The larger-yet-still-small size is actually a benefit. If you buy one of these as your only handheld in 2025, you’re kinda crazy. Buy the MM+ if you’re only in the market for one device. EDIT: Changing my initial rating of 5/5 to 4/5 due to the inconvenience of ordering and returning so many devices in an attempt to get one of good quality. I seem to be experiencing a QA problem with the devices I’m receiving, or maybe Miyoo devices are truly just poor quality in general. After flipping through menus and setup for a few minutes on one of the mini v4 units, I noticed the dpad is a bit janky; it doesn’t always respond. It wiggles a bit too much in its shell cutout, little too loose. It also looks like all of the screws are stripped, like someone considered modding it before deciding to return it. That could actually be what’s wrong with the dpad. Unfortunately, I will be returning the black one. I ordered a purple Miyoo Mini Plus from FINGEREVO before ordering two of the Minis. After learning that Miyoo was discontinuing production of their Mini v4 devices, I decided I should probably order a couple of them to see what all of the fuss was about. They come highly recommended by the retro gaming community, of which I just recently became a member. I had some FOMO and ultimately succumbed to the pressure of the shrinking inventory. The yellow, blue, and retro gray are becoming increasingly difficult to find, and if you do manage to find them, they cost more. I decided to buy the black and white from FINGEREVO. I still don’t quite understand the hype, but they are very cute and pocketable. You can literally take this device anywhere you wish. The MM+ is great too (better in most cases), but the Mini does scratch a certain itch for some. There’s something about the size and functionality of it that will really hit the sweet spot for a particular type of person. I feel like a giant playing games on this thing. It’s both good and bad. If you’re unsure, just order it because once the stock is gone, it’s supposedly gone for good. You can always return it easily through desertcart if you decide you don’t wanna keep it. I returned and reordered multiple devices trying to get my hands on a good-quality unit. Fourth one was the charm.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This thing is RIDICULOUS
*by D***J on September 15, 2024*

I have been out of the game for a very long time regarding handhelds. I do own a steamdeck, but I consider that more of an actual personal computer than a device like this. I'd heard about these kinds of devices years ago, but back then emulators were still wonky, a lot of the hardware was underpowered, and most games couldn't be played decently enough. This thing just took everything i knew and threw it in the trash. From NES all the way up to Ps1, you're playing anything you like, full speed, no throttle, with save state shortcuts and cheats and the whole nine yards. Thing has ate up everything I could have possibly thrown at it so far without so much as a sweat. Now as impressive as that is, this thing is SMALL. When i say small, i mean small small. Tiny small. Smaller than your old game boy color small. Smaller than a gameboy pocket. That's not necessarily a bad thing if your use case is absolute portability, but the thing is that it is SO TINY that playing certain games is just uncomfortable since all the buttons are so close together and the screen being as small as it is. Yeah you can play playstation games, but you're gonna be getting that device upclose and personal to read every now and again. Aside from that little gripe, it's a total dream. The screen itself i was even impressed with, absolutely no viewing angle fade, top notch color (which i read was a problem on the initial run of this particular iteration), no ghosting images whatsoever. This thing came with several goodies too out of the gate. Aside from everything being crammed in a handy carrying case which you already knew you were throwing into your backpack, it has not only a charging cable but 2 screen protectors tucked in there as well. AND a preinstalled sd card with a handful of games to get you started. Don't go expecting any nintendo stuff on here however, you gotta source that yourself. That being said, once you DO source it all for yourself, and even go the extra mile of installing onion OS on this thing, it becomes just so dead simple. the only extra thing you may be looking for are the cheat files for retroarch, but that's easy enough if you already know what you're doing. I love my steamdeck, don't get me wrong. That thing can already do all of this and even more, n64 being the particular exception, but it just isn't portable in the same way this is. You can just this in your pocket and it's smaller than most people's wallets. Break time at work? The easiest thing in the world to bust out. It's incredible how far these kinds of devices have come, and this thing is no slouch whatsoever. and the price? dude forget about it, people would've been paying upward of 200 for this 6 years ago to play half of what it does. Oh and yes, the buttons are all great, and diagonals work wonderfully. It feels almost like a broken in gameboy or super nintendo controller. I can't say enough good things about this thing. It makes me so curious toward the entire retro handheld space now. I hope I get the chance to check out more of these things, and from Miyoo in particular.
