Review: 40 Vol on thick, coarse, black hair. - As someone with naturally thick, coarse, black hair, I can confidently say that this stuff works WONDERS mixed with 40vol developer! My hair is left exactly the dark red I wanted! I have layered hair with my longest length being slightly below my hips, and my shortest mid-back. It took me 3 tubes, however, I ran out at the end :( so I assume it would've taken me 3.5 tubes for my hair specifically. I would definitely not advice to use 40 vol if you have thin hair, in my case, my hair is very coarse so any less vol would simply not be as effective. After being told by multiple salons that bleach was the only way to dark red hair, and trying multiple red box dyes, I decided to give this a go. Note: I used colour remover first and the box dye was very old (8 months+) The application was very easy and took me about an hour. After saturating every strand and leaving it on for another hour, the colour is unreal. It's been through multiple washes now and the colour is still very much vibrant.
