BUILD DETAILS This custom NooElec SDR is a modified DVB-T USB dongle tuned for SDR usage, including upgraded crystal, capacitors and inductors compared to generic devices like those sold by competitors. This results in a lowered noise floor, increased stability and improved longevity. These units are based on the R820T tuner IC made by Rafael Micro. As such, they have a frequency capability of approximately 25MHz-1750MHz, though this can vary somewhat from unit to unit. Its just showing white noise via SDR# app. Unplugging the ant sees no change. Not sure its picking up.** A: The included antenna, while pretty poor reception, can easily be improved by automatic gain control. In SDR#, select "RTL-SDR / USB" then click Configure next to it, check "Tuner AGC" (Can also do RTL AGC, but it doesn't seem to do much), this will make the signals that are near impossible to tune in to actual decent quality **Q: Can a Ku-Band dish be used in place of the provided antenna for purposes of picking up radio emissions?** A: No. Ku-Band signals are between 10.7 GHz and 12.75 GHz. The NooElec RTL-SDR handles signals in the approximate range 25MHz-1700MHz. **Q: Can this receive cb ssb radio?** A: Yes, CB radio is 26.9650 MHz-27.4050 MHz and within the frequency capability of this SDR. SSB can be demodulated along with most any other modulation type.
