With the stop block installed and extended to its widest point, the soap bar is 1 7/8" wide. However, you can remove the stop block and cut just about any size you 'd like. **Q: What is the wire gauge for replacement purposes?** A: Not sure what the wire gauge (probably on the website) is but the company did send this product with an extra wire. I love this soap cutter. **Q: can you use this with melt and pour soap?** A: You're not supposed to. It's much too hard when completely set. It could break the cutter string. I have but only when the Melt and pour soap hadn't been fully cured yet. Minor assembly required (one wing bolt, washer, and nut) and its good to go. Mine came with two extra wires and some mica samples. Took me less than a minute to put together and start cutting my soap. Smooth, even, perfect cuts on every bar. Worked perfectly the first time and seems very well built.
