The base is made of 18/10 stainless steel brushed inside and out for a contemporary look. A clear, bubble-like top made of durable polycarbonate, angles jauntily and features a constellation of holes that strain out ice. The lid is completely air tight due to the seal and sits firmly on top of the clear insert. This can easily be removed by simply placing your fingers into the two groves by the side of the lid and pulling. Once the lid has been removed, pour and enjoy. It is water tight though, so that you are not losing any precious liquid! The second reservation is the fact that as it is made of stainless steel prolonged shaking with lots of ice makes for a very cold pair of hands! Now that I realise that cocktails do not need long shaking and the knack of removing the lid has been achieved through constant use, I thoroughly recommend it. This cocktail shaker is no exception. Some I've tried are flimsy and of questionable manufacture. With WMF you are assured that only high quality materials are used. The various pieces that make up the complete shaker fit together reassuringly so no leaks. I've also got the Manhattan version which is equally well put together and will last a lifetime.
