That says it all: this sleazy, stupid movie, which mixes soft pornography with the clichés of backstage dramas, is the kind of project an aspiring actress would have to put well behind her to keep a career going (though co-star Gina Gershon certainly benefited from her, uh, exposure in the film). Berkley plays a drifter who hitches a ride to Las Vegas, becomes a lap dancer and then a performer, and discovers--gasp!--there's a whole world of sex and violence involved with these things. Gershon is probably the best element in the film, playing Berkley's bisexual rival for the big spotlight on stage. These are the pretty talented dancers who can become quite ruthless in their quest for fame. They don't care who they hurt. They become skilled at using people. Sadly, anyone who has been part of the entertainment business will relate to the truth of this piece of fiction which could easily have been based on a true story. The performances are superb without exception and the dance routines electrifying. It's great entertainment. Highly recommended! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ it has to been seen. *by T***Y on 17 January 2024* a interesting film to be revisted, elizabeth berkley is gorgeous, fantastic blu ray quality at a great price. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A glamorous story with a strong message. *by E***7 on 17 November 2016* The video disc was easy to play and set up. The content was okay and the performances were quite good if a little strained at first. The story was a little over-the-top but it grew on me. I didn't like the moral of the story: namely that anything goes in the fight to get ahead. This didn't seem to matter too much because the main character was almost living on the breadline. However the point was made that we all need friends if we want to survive and at the end of the story justice was served, even if it was a bit rough! The bad guys in the movie did deserve some far from gentle treatment, in my opinion. Some of the secondary characters were a bit sleazy but let's not forget that Las Vegas, where the action took place, is a city known by some as the 'City Of Sin'! The dancing in this film was executed very well but the choreography could have been more tasteful.
