It's 5/16" (~8 mm) thick. Because of all the holes, you've got a lot of possible hand placements/arm angles during seated rows, bent over rows, pull downs, etc. It is versatile with a lat machine, functional trainer or a cable crossover machine. Can be used with a land mine and bent-overs with free weights if you get creative. One thing to be aware of is that, because you have to use D-handles to pull it, you may lose some of the range of motion that you would normally have at the beginning of the rep when gripping a typical pull-down bar. However, this depends on your set-up and what you're doing. But, this same reality can add beneficial stretch at the end of the rep depending on where you place the handles. Again, the many possible hand placements are the key. The 'wings' have tapped holes. That is, they aren't thru holes but have threads for the screws. The maker includes a small sheet-steel throw-away wrench to help you screw them in. However, if you've got a 13 mm socket and wrench, it'll be a lot easier. The different range of motion is the biggest thing to adjust to. The many possible hand positions are the biggest plus. All-in-all, it's worth considering. It is not a magic piece that will answer every question. No attachment is. At the day's end, you need to get in there and lift weight and not expect the next piece to be what will take you over the top. Weight equipment companies benefit greatly from 'the next piece is what I need' syndrome. Especially the ones that don't have a lot of pieces in their catalogs for less than $900. But, hey, this piece is $60. Basically a Saturday night bar tab.
