Review: It works well. - Needed to connect a new tv to an old stereo receiver. It was very easy to setup. No issues getting 5.1 vs 2 channel as some noted. I thought this would be the best connection method, take advantage of the 6 channel input on my stereo. There is one aspect I didn’t think of. there is no method to tune or balance the frequencies of each channel. The cut off to the center and fronts is quite high and thus without a subwoofer connected there is very little bass. Perhaps the alternate method to buy a digital to analog converter and use the stereo’s surround options and settings to get the best sound is a better option for my scenario. But I can’t reduce the rating based that.
Review: Works great, be aware of volume control limitations. - This worked well out of the box but I missed that it did not have an HDMI in. The optical connection worked but it's basically full volume--TV volume control ignored. I bought this to run powered PA speakers off an an older LG TV with ARC and optical out, a hacked together surround sound with equipment on hand. I did have some buzzing on on the rear channel but I think that was from a substandard cable.

**Q: will this work with a roku ultra that streams dolby digital plus?**
A: it doesn't support dolby digital plus what is 7.1Ch

**Q: is there a 3.5 plug version?**
A: Yes that would be the Aux port

**Q: Is the subwoofer channel full range or is there a crossover on the output?**
A: The unit outputs subwoofer only frequencies. However, the output is low in volume. With mine i use preamps on all the outputs and the on to the amplifiers.

**Q: Will this device decode dolby e-ac-3 (enhanced ac3)?**
A: no

Needed to connect a new tv to an old stereo receiver. It was very easy to setup. No issues getting 5.1 vs 2 channel as some noted. I thought this would be the best connection method, take advantage of the 6 channel input on my stereo. There is one aspect I didn’t think of. there is no method to tune or balance the frequencies of each channel. The cut off to the center and fronts is quite high and thus without a subwoofer connected there is very little bass. Perhaps the alternate method to buy a digital to analog converter and use the stereo’s surround options and settings to get the best sound is a better option for my scenario. But I can’t reduce the rating based that.

Was trying to use a set of computer speakers for my home theatre setup. The sound floor is awful, the speakers buzz quite a bit at anything more than half volume and they’ll be there a lot because it made the speakers really quiet. While the surround sound effect was really good with great locational audio (sound stage)
