Does the dry food ever go off?

Mine never hangs around long enough to fine out! The sell by date is on the packet. Once opened I decant mine into an airtight box and it keeps several weeks. I know the larger bag is cheaper by unit but I buy 2kg bag partly so it’s fresh for my kit. Regards Libby
