Review: A Bargain - I received this standoff yesterday and cleaned my guttering and second floor windows today. I hate heights but have braved cleaning the windows a few times a year. However because of the overhanging fascia I've not had the courage to clear the guttering for many years. Today I did and it was made so much easier with this standoff. I was able to get past the fascia and look along the length of the gutter and move the ladder every yard or so to clean it out. This tool is strong, well made and easy to fit. As others have said, you may need to squash the U pieces that fit onto the rungs as they're obviously made large enough to fit a range of different sized ladders. The spring which holds it onto the ladder seems to be strong enough to me. All in all a bargain for anyone who does climb a ladder but wishes they didn't have to. I did feel so much safer up there than usual. So a great buy at a bargain price. Highly recommended.

**Q: would this be any use for houses with wide soffits mine extends 2feet from wall including gutter?**
A: I doubt. The purpose of that accessory is to make use the full length of the ladder and to be used on the corners . As you know if the ladder is, say 10 feet, the useful length is 8 feet, maybe. With that accessory you may step on nearly the last step and work.

**Q: Is this what I need to attach to my ladder to avoid damaging my guttering when cleaning the top windows?**
A: yes, attach it close to the top of the ladder and place it against the wall below the gutter onto the wall. It should hold the ladder off the wall enough such that the part of the ladder above the prop extends upwards to give you good access to the outside of the windows. The V is so you can place it on the wall even if there is a downpipe in front of the ladder, I have also used it to support the top of the ladder leaning against the corner of the building. Good luck don't fall off, it will not catch you !

**Q: Does the black plastic protection bits mark the white fascia when leaning against it?**
A: no. the black bits did not mark my white facia board when I used it.

**Q: How much distance is there between the ladder and the wall?**
A: The V Type Stand Off will hold your ladder 250-400mm clear of the wall

Replaces one I loaned out and never got back. Delivery was prompt, in a predictably huge cardboard box (how do you ship one of these otherwise??). This is good and strong and well made, with Nyloc nuts used on all the bolts to keep them tight and safe. I have already found the V-notch useful, both around a drainpipe and on the corner of the property. The only reason it didn't merit five stars immediately, is that it arrived with some sharp corners from where the aluminium bar had been guillotined. It took about five minutes with a file to clean it up, and honestly, for the price I'm probably being a bit mean. I did a fair bit of searching, and this is by far the best value standoff I could find.
