**Q: how heavy is the base?  will it hold the indicator on a wooden surface, i.e. without the magnetic field?**
A: No , it is Designed to be used on a Metal surface with Magnet switch On

**Q: What is the diameter of the gauge’s stem (I need 3/8"=9.5mm diameter for my application)? Can multiple plungers be connected to extend the length?**
A: The diameter of the gauge’s stem is 3/8"=9.5mm. 

You could add a plunger to extend the length as the contact tips can be changed. However I'm afraid of that would affect the precision. The toltal length for the stem and plunger is 1.9inch=48mm (not included the tip length).

**Q: can this be used with a drill press to find the center of round stock? thanks**
A: I use this to set up front and rear axle gears it's used to fined the back lash.

**Q: What is the warranty on this product?**

This seems to work fine. not the most robust clamps in the world but is fine for my needs, the magnetic base works fine. I purchased it for traming my drill press table and will use it for trueing my table saw etc. and could use it for checking brake rotors etc. I might be judging a little harshly as I was a "Tool and Die Maker" and am used to using industrial quality measuring equipment. This is not that, but definitely will do a the job, especially for the price. I think it was a good deal and was not disappointed. It comes in a descent hard plastic case and should last a long time.
