The older float switch has a knob on the side so you can rotate and lift up the float inside to test the system.

**Q: Is the hole spacing (and/or general dimensions) the same as on the older mercury switch rule-a-matic plus model?**

The new float switch is slightly different from the old mercury float switch.
The mercury switch has a different hole pattern so you will only be able to use one of the holes from the old switch.
