A: It needs 3 AA batteries, 1 AA battery for controlling the clock hands, another 2 AA batteries for controlling the moving gears.

**Q: Why won't the hands move after I installed the battery?**
A: This clock does not have a second hand, so it needs at least 1 minute to see the movement of the minute hand. Please check if the minute hand has moved after 5-10 minutes.
