Also, there is a poorly insulated (by me) pump house made of metal in which I put one of these. It's difficult to get the signal to it from the house through the metal and double sided foil lines flexible insulation, but I stuck an empty plastic bottle under the edge of the doorway to this janky structure and moved the sensor closer to the place where the bottle is and the connection has since remained stable. The pump house is maybe about 80 feet away from the router inside the house, so there is a lot of stuff for the signal to get through. I needed to be able to monitor when the temperatures dropped to near or below freezing inside the house and inside the pump house. These sensors have done the truck for me through a relatively long hard freeze here in Texas. So far, I've had to replace the batteries in 2 of the 6 sensors in 2 months and it looks like I'll be needing to change the rest of them soon. They seem to go from showing 2 bars of battery remaining to none as far as I can tell. The one I have in the garage (which was the first to need changing) is already looking like it will need changing again soonish. They're easy to change, but I really would like to get them on rechargeables once I've used up all of the batteries I currently have on hand. They seem relatively accurate compared to others weather stations inside and outside the house and compared to the officially reported temps. I calibrated them all in the same room before placing them in their final positions. Getting them connected to WiFi wasn't all that straightforward, and it took me a bit of time. Once I got one done the others were all easy though. Another reviewer here detailed something they did that made it work and I followed their lead. I can't remember what it was. I did not find the installation guidance of the app all that clear nor the app itself all that intuitive. Review: Precise and easy to use - I really like these thermometer/hygrometers. They are quite precise, displaying temperature and humidity to the tenth. The historical data is fantastic as well, as it's easy to look at trends over hours, days, weeks, months, or the entire year. Although I've only had them for a couple months, so no long-term experience yet. Initially, I tried one in the RV freezer, one in the RF refrigerator, and one in the RV living room. Yes, there is an "RV" trend there. We are camping out in the RV while the house is remodeled. Anyway, we wanted to monitor the temps in the freezer and fridge zone to ensure they were cooling to the right levels. And they were. And yes, the signal worked right through the refrigerator doors. The base unit was placed about 15 feet away under the dinette (cause that's where the outlet is). :) As the season progressed and it got much colder, we were more concerned with the temperatures around the freshwater tank and the underbelly area. And we were right to be concerned. The freshwater tank or the feed from the tank to the pump froze when we had the cold snap in early December (Oregon). How do I know it was the tank or tank line to the pump? Well, our RV has a feed hose with a cutoff valve right before the pump. So, I filled a bucket of water, put the feeder hose in the bucket, and ran the pump. Pressured right up and the sinks worked. So, frozen tank or feed line. Anyway, we skirted the RV with cellular foam board, put a small space heater underneath with a thermal switch, and placed the thermostats. One thermostat was hung under the frame in the now enclosed underside of the RV. One in the pump area with all the crazy water lines. And one just outside the RV hanging from an external panel. The lanyards came in handy for that. We were happy to see the underbelly temps come slowly back up above freezing. At this moment (22 Dec 22), it's 36.9 degrees in the underbelly, and 10.4 degrees just on the outside of the RV. And yes, the water unfroze, and everything works again. Yay! We carefully checked for any leaks and were happy to not find any. So, we really like the sensors. They are connected over our home network, so I can check them anywhere, anytime. The Govee app is nice and easy to use, and it's easy to add the devices. I did get one bum battery that died in the first week, but that inconsequential. The others are running strong. And they work fine with our Eneloop rechargeables. Small, precise, and wireless. Good stuff. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for general purpose use around the house *by M***. on September 14, 2022* Needed to get a way to track temperature in refrigerator/freezer that has had issues since purchase...was very helpful in proving to the manufacturer that there was indeed an issue. Now have them place inside and outside the house, helps us know when to turn the whole house fan on/off. The guts of the unit are a FR8016HA BLE SOC (ARM Cortex-M3 core) and what appears to be a SHTC1 Humidity/Temperature Sensor. What I like: Very easy to setup and use. App is somewhat primitive but does it's job. The ability to export the data with granularity of time interval is great. Calibration adjustment per sensor for temp and humidity. Dislikes: 1) As others have mentioned, alerting only works on local wifi/bluetooth, that's a serious detractor if you require remote alerting capability. 2) Advertised temp range only goes down to -4˚F and the software alert starts at -4 which makes it not so useful for freezers...should go to at least -10˚F. 3) Battery life is not that great, would have preferred a slightly larger unit with an AA battery...over twice the capacity of the AAA. (I modified the one I put in the attic by removing the battery and direct wiring to a 1.5V AC adapter so I don't have to go up there to change batteries every few months.) 4) No API available for feeding data into a home automation system. It's a decent product, just has some limitations to be aware of before buying.
