It is fun and has lots of drills. You can setup target and just play around or use the app and track everything for improving your skills. There are several systems like this, I just chose Mantis because I like it. Packaged well, but I put everything in an Apache 3800 case (H.F. Tools) and it fits nicely. I can keep the stands, targets, camera sun shades and the Mantis case all tucked nicely in the Apache case ( I put the large target in the lid of the Apache case behind the foam and made a strap to keep it al there. I bought a .380, .223 and an additional 9mm laser to go with it. There are places in the Mantis case to store the extra lasers as well. The laser cartridge fits in the chamber like a regular round would. That is the only part that interfaces with the firearm physically. To use the app, you will need to aim phone or tablet camera at the smart targets. Then when you aim at the targets with the laser cartridge installed and press the trigger, the laser cartridge will activate, and the app will record where you hit the target. **Q: Can this be used in conjunction with dryfiremag so you don’t have to re-cock the slide every time?** A: No, unfortunately the laser cartridge is activated by the firing pin, and DryFireMag disables the firing pin, so the gun cannot trigger the laser while training with a DryFireMag. **Q: can you see results on your tv?** A: Only thru screen mirroring. I actually mirror to my ipad at 10 yards to see my results. Mirroring to the tv is easy. Mirroring to an iPad is tricky. **Q: Do i need to purchase anything else to use this with an ar-15 pistol chambered in 9mm?** A: No, you don't need anything else. The 9mm version of the Laser Academy - Standard Training Kit contains everything you need to practice with any firearm chambered in 9mm. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We love our Mantis Laser Academy! *by C***S on February 19, 2026* We really enjoy this system. The app walks you through each step and really like going to a professional trainer but in your own home ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for 9mm Dry Fire Training – Saves a Ton on Ammo and Helps Dial in Accuracy *by U***R on April 25, 2026* I picked this up in the 9mm version, and it’s been one of the best training tools I’ve added to my setup. Right out of the box, it was easy to get going—set up the targets, drop in the laser cartridge, connect the app, and you’re ready to start putting in reps. What I really like is the ability to sight in new weapons and fine-tune my trigger control without burning through expensive ammo. With ammo prices these days, this system honestly pays for itself pretty quick. I’ve used it both to get a rough zero on new setups and to stay sharp between range trips. The app is solid too—tracks your shots, gives feedback, and turns practice into more of a challenge instead of just dry firing at a wall. It keeps things interesting and actually makes you want to keep training. Everything included in the kit feels well thought out, especially the multiple targets and phone setup. I’ve used it in my basement and even in the garage, and it’s been consistent every time. Overall, if you’re running a 9mm and want a cost-effective way to practice, improve accuracy, and get comfortable with your gear, this is absolutely worth it. ## Frequently Bought Together - Mantis Laser Academy - Standard Training Kit - Mantis Laser Academy Smart Targets | 15 Dry Fire Laser Targets for Practice & Training | Automatic Detection & Scoring with App --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.de/products/359624649-mantis-laser-academy-training-kit-for-9mm-45-acp-380](https://www.desertcart.de/products/359624649-mantis-laser-academy-training-kit-for-9mm-45-acp-380) --- *Product available on Desertcart Germany* *Store origin: DE* *Last updated: 2026-10-02*
