I installed ours under a sloping roof to our carport and I did it alone, so I recommend buying some pizza and beer to get the next door neighbor over for assistance. The frame is extremely strong, once the plywood is attached to reinforce it. I think I could continue to fill it and the roof would come down from the weight before the unit came apart. Note: Their recommended load is no more than 600 lbs. I’m so used to having the storage unit that I don’t even notice it anymore. But, it’s been able to hold all of our outside storage needs for years. It was unused space above our heads and now it’s storage space. The alternative was to rent space and for the cost of the unit (and my free labor) we have a forever storage space and no monthly cost associated with it. I already have it lying around from some shelves I broke down** A: The 4x8 must be cut into 4' section due to how they must sit in as the shelf. If you had a 4x8' sheets, they would need to be cut in-half to make 4x4' sheets. **Q: Can I mount two of them side by side on the same studs?** A: No you can’t get them too close because only one of the ceiling braces can’t hold both units. If you could attach the brace parallel and pick up two studs this may work. Also understand that the screws extend beyond the frames. There would have to be a gap between the units. It’s possible but you need to be creative. Good luck. Think outside the box. **Q: The minimum states 22", but I need it to go 20". Could it it modified to support a shallower shelf? Maybe remove the extensions altogether?** A: Yes but you will need to cut the vertical straps the shelf hangs from yourself. The minimum depth is based on the length of the vertical steel straps out of the box. You will need a hacksaw or saws-all. If you are comfortable using hand/power tools it would not be a big deal. **Q: How much do I need to cut on the plywood so it slides easily into the slots allotted? But I soon realized I did not make it large enough to accommodate all the steel and lumber I wanted to store up there. That’s when I discover this Fleximount ceiling rack! It’s large enough to fit all the stuff I want to put up there and sturdy enough that I’m not afraid to stand under it. (Unlike my first ceiling rack) The ONLY issue or concern is the installation. The install is pretty straightforward but you’re going to need to be handy with measuring where you’re go to place the ceiling mounts. You need to be very accurate with your measurements or you will have trouble lining up the frame. I also recommend having someone help you install. I did this all myself and quickly realized how difficult it was to lift the plywood sheet over my head to set on the mount. I had to cut the plywood in half so it was easier to set in place.
