Good but some errors
Lonely Planet books are always my go-to, and this book is good as always and covers the key areas with detail, even if some things are out of date (as expected - written in 2021). However, there were more errors than I’ve seen in other LP books. For example, maps not matching with descriptions, photos labelled as the wrong location, etc. Minor issues but just a shame as lacks usual quality.

A must have
Without this book we would have missed so many places in korea. It was priceless

So sad these books are over
It’s just so sad that the old format has gone. I turned up in Jeju without my plan to get from the airport to Seogwipo. Sat waiting for my luggage so opened my LP guide book, lo and behold take bus 300 from outside exit 5. This is what Maureen and Tony set out to do, and what always happens in life is the big corporations balls it up. I’ve been using LP since my first trip to Thailand in 1994, such a shame.

Disappointing
Have used this series before to plan trips that I book myself. This is the worst one that I have come across. It is full of inaccuracies and misses major things to see, despite being published in 2023.

A good guidebook but it needs updating and checking
I used the guidebook while in South Korea for 4 weeks in Oct-Nov 2023; it proved useful. However, there are errors here and there (names of landmarks, etc.); also, it is very badly out of date. Overall, I would recommend it and it did make my trip easier, mostly in terms of preparing it and background information. As far as hotels are concerned, I made bookings over Booking.com, mostly. But the guidebook does give an idea as to areas, prices, etc. And S Korea is a remarkably interesting country: it is quite easy to travel around; it is cheaper than England; the people are decent, welcoming, honest, pleasant, friendly, polite and courteous; and, finally, it is very safe. Overall, a fantastic destination in every respect.
