## Description

IPR2 power amplifiers, designed for years of reliable, flawless operation under rigorous use. The groundbreaking IPR2 series utilizes an advanced design that allows Peavey engineers to dramatically reduce weight while increasing output power, reliability and thermal efficiency. IPR2 Series amplifiers are designed with a resonant switch-mode power supply and a high-speed class D topology that yields the highest audio resolution and efficiency available. This revolutionary amplifier offers the sonic superiority and unsurpassed reliability for which Peavey is famous, in an extremely efficient and lightweight design. Advanced technology and extensive protection circuitry allow operation with greater efficiency into difficult loads and power conditions. The DDT (Distortion Detection Technique) circuitry ensures trouble-free operation into loads as low as 2 ohms. DDT protects drivers and ensures that sonic integrity is maintained, even in extreme overload conditions. The IPR2's high-efficiency design allows the amplifier to operate at very low temperatures, and does not require massive heat sinks to cool.

Review: Lightweight and powerful - 3,000 watts and light weight. Each channel can run in full range or just the highs or just the bass with a flick of a switch, so no crossover and no menus. Simple and easy to operate.
Review: Seriously rugged, seriously fantastic power amp! - I'm a music geek... an electrical engineer (day job) in a hard working coastal party band and I still have perfect hearing. Through the years I have run all kinds of interesting equipment and amps including Mackie, Yamaha, Crown and JBL stuff. I started running IPR amps when our heavy, bullet proof, and old Peavey CS800 amps became unreliable (after 25 years of hard service). I bought the IPR's thinking "they're cheap and nearly disposable if they don't last"... the salt air at most of our gigs is very hard on ALL electronics. We run an IPR2-3000 on mains for our small PA. This is one of the BEST sounding amps I've ever had in service! Audio is clean, transparent, and puncy, not harsh and "sizzly" on the top end (its very flat - don't EQ it like an analog amp). I was so impressed with them that I took an older IPR1600 apart and built it into a JBL MP418 sub with a fried power amp. This creation has been our main sub for 3 years now - It absolutely stomps - very few amps could survive what we do to it every weekend (like the original JBL-Crown amp). As an electronics designer, I can tell you that the technology in these amps is very advanced, rugged, and brilliantly designed. Its not a piece of cheap crap, its not a toy. ;) And Peavey's support is excellent if you ever need to use it. I am regularly told we have the best sounding small PA in the area - and regularly asked what we are running to get such a tight, punchy, and focused sound.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone run one of these for long periods at 2 Ohms impedance? Are there any reliability issues with that?**
A: Yes we have experience using these into 2 ohm loads with no problem. Would this be full range or just subwoofer application?

**Q: his this rock ready**
A: Meaning "is this rock ready?"I use it with a SansAmp rack preamp and it rules. So much power.

**Q: Can this amp push 2 peavey pv118 subwoofer at 8 ohms each?**
A: Jonnii, this amp will work, but I suggest stepping up to the IPR2 5000, for optimal sound

**Q: How load are the fans?**
A: This dude does not take a lot away from the power supply. The fans don't run a lot because of the way the monster is built.
When they do they whisper a cool breeze.
Buy it. You'll love it. You'll need ear plugs in a smaller space!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty good, surprisingly lightweight!
*by ;***) on May 10, 2024*

So light. You would not expect this thing to have the power that it does. It’s a pretty no frills device, but keeping it simply is best. Use a pre-amp/mixer to do signal mods. Two issues though…..there are non-removable handles that stick out of the front. If your rack has a door, it will not close!!!!! (I removed the door and moved on. Second minor issue is for output connections, it uses Speak-On connectors, not regular XLR or screw terminals. This proved to be a bigger pain that I thought it would be. Overall though, I would recommend this unit and will probably use this model as my go-to for venue installs.
