With a USB DAC capable of 192kHz/24-bit resolution playback from PC, it supports a variety of sources, including CD, Bluetooth and USB. Cut aluminum panels, which are about 5mm thick on the front and 3mm thick on the top and sides, are used indulgently, increasing both the strength of the unit and its resistance to external noise. The controls on the front of the unit are elegant and easy to use. I'm sorry, but those are the only nice things I can think of to say about it.I purchased this item to replace my most excellent Onkyo shelf system. After several years of faithful service from the Onkyo, my cat jumped onto its open CD tray, rendering it inoperative and not worth the cost of repair. Shopping around for a suitable replacement, I was looking for something that did not include speakers, since I wanted to keep the Onkyo speakers. I also needed a subwoofer output, line input, the correct speaker impedance rating, and an integrated CD player and amplifier that didn't take up too much room - there is limited space in the area where I use it. I am also trying to steer clear of wireless/bluetooth/streaming features - I want pure, unadulterated audio signal that doesn't need Internet access and has been taken apart, compressed, scrambled, transmitted, re-encoded, and reassembled as few time as possible. This TEAC was pretty much the only system that met all my requirements. I thought this brand and the price would give me not necessarily a top-shelf experience, but certainly a high-quality one.After a couple of months using it, I have noted a few flaws. The major problem is that this equipment does not read the super audio layer on SACDs. For a system that has a "Hi-Res AUDIO" sticker right on it, and for the $500 I paid for it, I would expect it to play super audio. Big, big problem. Other drawbacks - the display is hard to read compared the bygone Onkyo. The remote is small and awkard to use. The remote does not have a number keypad, so getting to a track deep in the middle of a disc requires repeated pushing of the (difficult to operate on the remote) track skip buttons.One other issue - I'm experiencing intermittent digital clipping on disc playback. I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing, if it's my discs, or if it's actually something wrong with the equipment. I haven't really done any extensive troubleshooting, but I don't remember those discs clipping on any of my other CD players. I suspect it's just that TEAC's signal processing circuitry is poorly designed. Those clicks, squeaks, and chirps while I'm trying to enjoy the music are SUPREMELY annoying. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good equipment, with minor flaws *by P***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2019* Very good sound! I was a bit skeptical about any digital amplifier, but it does the job giving a clear sound with nice warm bass (using with Elac UB5 speakers). Unit is small and looks decent (in the era of plastic), fitting into my lofty design. FM reception is good with the wire antenna from the set. Unit works with 100-240V power supply. Three little flaws though: Loudness works very bad way (you would expect boosting low and high frequencies, it adds some bass and weird boosted surround making me dizzy), LCD display (a typical 16x2 alphanumeric) has poor viewing angles and it takes approx. 8 seconds from turning on to hearing a FM station (could be faster). Remote control is cute, could be more handy but good enough. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fits my space requirements *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2019* I bought this to fit a particular shelf in our home, so dimensions were very important. Also it had to have a sub pre-out. This receiver is heavy and the sound quality is pretty good. Bluetooth works well and is easy to pair. Not sure why it still has a CD player, do people still use those? Anyway, the remote is tiny and terrible.
