No problems. But please do not use waxed shellacs. Per the Waterlox website: "Most Waterlox products can be used over dewaxed shellac. Thin cuts of dewaxed shellac used to seal oily woods should work fine under all products. Penetrating Waterlox products should not be used over thicker coats of shellac. Waxed shellacs should be removed completely as the wax may cause adhesion issues." **Q: Is this product food safe, i.e., could you use it safely on butcher block that will be used as a cutting board?** A: According to information I found on various sites, it’s food contact safe.
