If you attempt to gently place it on, it usually tilts. However, I still really, really like this product. It can take a little extra care to get the lid flat and more effort to keep it high up instead of sinking in a centimetre or so but I really don't mind the look of it sunk in a bit. I do feel the bin should be a bit more affordable but it is rare to find a bin that hides the bag and even more rare to find such an elegant looking one.
