I am not sure that it would hold a heavy person very well. It isn't too wide. The seat is not thick. But the person using this is not big at 140 lbs. The seat flap is easy to use. The handles to hold onto re sturdy. The height from the floor to the seat at its tallest is about 21 inches. The person using this is 5 feet tall with a hip replacement. Again, if someone is tall, I am not sure this would be high enough.
