I learned this the hard way after three failed and non-returnable (alum = food product) orders. This Jacquard Alum Powder, however, is absolutely correct. The proof was in the dissolving. Unlike the others that did not dissolve, no matter what I tried, this melted completely into hot water to form a crystal-clear supersaturated solution. The growth process was swift and successful, resulting in stunning crystal clusters without having to repeatedly filter a cloudy solution - full of undissolved powder and impurities - like I experienced with other brands. The higher price of this Alum is justified by its purity and effectiveness. The quality control is exceptional, with no leftover particulates to ruin the solution. Don't waste your money on cheaper imposters—this is the one you need.
