The small numbers (clock) are about 7mm or 1/4" high. It works as I expected. First, set the clock to the precisely correct time. Then, for instance, to set it to countdown until New Years Day, I set days to 213. The hour, minute, and second set to midnight (00). Then when the clock strikes midnight, pushed the "Start" button. Then it immediately begins the countdown! Cool. I could imagine this would be entertaining for kids, so they could check exactly how much longer they must wait for some event they're looking forward to. Like a birthday, Christmas, vacation/holiday trip, or whatever. The batteries are included. Preinstalled, in fact. The CR2032 is a common size, and are easily accessible so battery replacement should be simple. It feels heavy and solid. The quality seems to be excellent. I mentioned its weight, and my only complaint is the magnets are not up to the task of holding it fast to any painted metal surface I tried. And since I am pleased to get something these days that seems to be well manufactured and made with care. It’s fairly simple if you can do simple soldering. Change the solder jumper from option 1 to option 3. **Q: Does this have an alarm?** A: No alarm, just counts down to your desired day.
