Gameplay Just as in earlier releases in the franchise, DanceDanceRevolution is a multiplayer Dance / Music / Rhythm hybrid game based on the original Japanese arcade classic of the same name. The game is packed with a blend of licensed popular and classic dance tracks, as well as tracks created especially for the game by game developer and publisher, Konami. The player's goal is to keep time with the precise rhythm of each track as they are on queued by on-screen arrows that scroll up the game screen from the bottom. The top of the screen is the "step zone" - four static arrows pointing left, down, up and right. As the scrolling arrows pointing in one of these directions makes contact with like arrows in the step zone players indicate the correct direction and duration, again in time with the song. The more accurate you are in doing this, the more points you score, with even more points available as simultaneous arrow combinations occur. Success also maintains your life bar, while a poor performance decreases it, eventually leading to the end of your turn if the bar is entirely depleted. Typically rhythm input is done with your feet using the DanceDanceRevolution dance pad controller - included with this bundle, but DanceDanceRevolution for PlayStation 3 also includes support for the PlayStation Move control system (components sold separately). The integration of PlayStation Move allows for several unique features, for example, Dance Off Mode which, via the Move system's PlayStation Eye camera, allows players to take turns dancing to the game's iconic scrolling arrow queues, with the winner receiving the most points. In standard play players can combine the Move Motion controller and the dance pad allowing for a dancer's steps and their upper body to get into the game. The PlayStation Eye camera also allows for the creation of videos that can be shared via YouTube and Facebook. Another piece of functionality players will enjoy is Club Mode, which allows you to string together from 4 - 20 tracks, back-to-back. This eliminates load time between track, keeping the high-energy action going while you knock off combos that unleash point multipliers. Additional features include: unlockable tracks, motivational challenges, tutorials and the improved graphic quality PlayStation 3 is famous for. Track ListDanceDanceRevolution contains a wealth of infectious grooves, both master tracks and ones created especially for the game by Konami. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Fun Dancing Game for the PS3
*by T***S on November 19, 2010*

DanceDanceRevolution finally makes its splash on the Sony Playstation 3 platform. After years of waiting since its initial reveal in 2008, it has appeared to have changed in form but still remains fun and fast paced to make it fun for people of all ages. However, as is always the case in these music oriented games, the musical selection is always a make or break deal. For people who like a mix, on disc, of the 50ish songs about 25 are the, as people would say, jpop/jrock Konami original songs, and a similar number of licensed songs ("Love Like This" Natasha B, "Bad Romance" Lady Gaga...).The game lacks online multiplayer, but features 4 player multiplayer with support for PS Move controller with the mat (which caters to at most 2 players). For single player, most of the action takes place in the dynamic Club Mode which is where one will go to unlock all of the songs that are not in the initial 20-30ish'. This mode starts players off on beginning, and as one plays more they will increase their dance level to unlock songs and go to higher difficulty. One of the faults of the mode is that one can not initially start off on a higher level, they have to dance to get higher, so people who arent beginners have to endure the period of that slow speed. The dynamic difficulty can change in the midst of a song by way of the Trick mechanic in which things can happen to the arrows (slow down, speed up) or it can change the difficulty, or any mix of the two. It takes a while to get used to, but it is plenty fun as it keeps one always on the lookout. There are other features such as playing with reverse arrows, hidden, playing up to 20 songs back to back, free play mode where multiple settings can be altered. Therefore on the features set, it covers enough aspects to cater to a wide range of players. The game can also count the calories one burns, as well as do video uploads of them dancing, and there is a training mode. Finally there is the opportunity for DLC which hopefully Konami will comb through their catalog of past DDR games and choose songs as well as introduce new ones (not just licensed tracks).I found the game to be pretty fun for the PS3 and the graphics and arrows look pretty clear. The announcer guy keeps me focused as well. Im glad they did not decide to keep the actual music videos in the backgrounds of the songs as it seemed kind of distracting, while just keeping particle effect explosions, and other abstract color changes seem to be a bit more enjoyable to see (well they have pop in figures and such too, so its not just bland). This was a fun game for a beginner to the HD Console Version of DDR, and one of the things I liked about it on the PS3 is the opportunity for DLC. The game is fun, and dancing is active. I like the mat as well, though I found I have to actually listen to the directions and go with "bare feet" instead of socks etc, I guess a certain amount of pressure must be applied.Definitely check it out if one is a DDR fan as the premise for DLC and having it on the PS3 is too large of an opportunity to pass up and show support to Konami so more DDR's can come out. Sure it may lack online multiplayer or have a small offering of songs on disc, but it is still fun no less and thats all that counts.

### ⭐ Definitely not what I expected.

For years I have wanted to purchase a dance mat cuz I rly like the arcade version plus I'm rly good at it. For Christmas I purchased a wii n a DDR but realized it only works with the white console. So I returned the console and DDR ..purchased a wii u and decided to get the DDR for the ps3. I was so excited. That is until I realized 1. The playlist had about 5 decent songs and even the additional song packs for purchase were totally unappealing. 2. The game is slow but decent as beginner but once u move to basic the arrows become ridiculous and do not correspond to the beat. So you are just stamping at arrows rather than dancing. There would also be a cluster of arrows n you just stand there like....huh? Now I'm not a super dancer but I'm quite good so I know other pple may be able to do the million arrows thing..but my understanding of gaming is that basic means doable. I had also purchased DDR hottest dance party 2 n tried it without using a mat with my wii u n I actually enjoyed it. I still had the occasional arrow clusters but it was decent. With that said I don't know if it's a wii vs ps3 thing or differences in the bundle.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love it, but could have been better!

Finally a DDR game came out. (I'm still waiting on the PIU version). Anyone, for those who know this series, let me start by saying THERE ARE NO JAPANESE SONGS!! I was kind of looking forward of going down memory lane with all the great songs I used to play, but this has all American music. I played the floor mat out of Lady Gaga, and I wasn't excited about most of the songs, but once I picked the ones I knew I quickly was into it. I added about 8 to my favorites already, so I know I like it.There aren't many song in all. Seems like not a lot compared to a lot of DDR games, but when I saw there was a online store, it had no content. As of 7 Dec 2010. The dance pat is pretty good, but after playing it for a hour, seem like it isn't going to last for too much longer. The move function, is actually pretty fun. I got confused a little bit, but it adds some depth to the game. Like another viewer said. You can't push any buttons on the move button, so I was using my other controller to pick X,, but after a while of going back and forth, I forgot about the X button on the mat. But still annoying. You can't pause the game either, but that is fine, since you don't get to play a full song. Granted It might be tiring to dance for 4 min to one song, but I wish they had a option to play the whole song. Plus if the online feature is ever fixed, are the going to expect us to pay full price for half a song? They should have gave a music editor like on of the past DDR games, where you could make your own arrows. Then give a option to upload songs you have on your hard drive. But I guess they can make more money this way.To cut this short. I had a BLAST playing this, and it was worth every penny, despite some of the negatives. If you like the dancing genre you will like this. Also, for those who played PIU(Pump it Up) the korean version, you know how the dance pad is superior to the DDR mat. Well, if you beat a song on expert, you get a bonus lv. It basically lets you use the corners of the pad which is just like PIU. It felt awesome to use those, but a little confusing, since they are marked with a o,x,Triangle, and square button on the dance pad. It took a little getting used to, but I wish they made the whole game like that. Anyway, get this and dance off!! OH, AND NO ONLINE FEATURE. Oh well. hopefully if they make a sequel they will fix all this. I like the american songs, but throw some Asian songs in there!
