The price is competitive for the quality assurance imo. They always perform exactly as I expect and the shelf life is excellent. Review: Excellent genuine SureFire batteries, but no longer include a stamped production date - We own multiple SureFire flashlights with rechargeable batteries, but like to keep plenty of these for extended outages during hurricane season. Surefire batteries have always proven reliable, and we’ve never had one leak in a flashlight. Surprisingly, they’re also cheaper than the Energizer equivalent, and sometimes even cheaper than generics. My only criticism is that they no longer stamp the production date on the boxes. They’re guaranteed to last 10 years in storage, but without the production date it’s a best guess as to how old they are when you buy them. Frustrating because SureFire has always done this in the past. I’m guessing resellers had an interest in stopping this because it probably became difficult to sell their stock of batteries if they weren’t the most current batch. Our general workaround is to write the purchase date in permanent marker on the individual boxes whenever we buy them. Overall, easy recommendation for these batteries. They seem identical, but the brown are cheaper.** A: Surefire red, Surefire brown, streamlight, Panasonic are ALL made in the same Panasonic factory in the US, and of hte same materials with some very very minor tweaks. For example a streamlight will run marginally longer (4%) than surefire at 10 ma very low load, 500 ma low load, and 2 amp maximum load. Surefire will run 3% longer at 1 amp mid/high load. These are trivial. Surefire brown are completely identical to reds BUT probably RISKY here on amazon because it is not amazon selling, but third party sellers, who may have knockoffs, quality control failure dumps, or old stock. Get streamlight or surefire "sold by" and shipped by amazon, or "sold by" streamlight or surefire which are made by Panasonic in their US factory, or alternately US made panasonic. **Q: What are the use by dates on the batteries that are shipping out now (9/2/2014)?** A: I have purchased this item twice. This was my experience. I ordered a box in 2020, and the batteries had a 2023 expiration dates, which I noticed too late. But they worked just fine.
