Take the aquarium outside and use a garden hose and bleach. If calcium remains use white vinegar. Rinse thoroughly. The API spray is for maintenance and getting rid of hard water drips after the aquarium is up and running. **Q: Can you use this to clean the plastic plants in the tank?** A: Do not buy this product. It does not clean anything, makes your tank look worse than with out cleaning at all **Q: Can I use to sanitize inside of a used fish tank?** A: I can’t tell you that because it does not seem to work at all on my tanks and I use it on the outside to clean the tank.
