I need them to be longer than they currently are.** A: Strip the outer end of the wire about 5mm and solder on longer wires. I didn't test it, but it looks like kynar. The maker used good output wiring. I'm not going to back his claim of 400KV, because I personally have not taken one of the units into my lab and measured it, but I know a good bit about HV. Don't assume that the breakdown characteristics of air are linear. They're not. Under normal kitchen table conditions, you can draw 4 inch sparks from a 20kv source.
