The furnace is over 20 years old and works well for now and the old thermostat was good and simple. When the thermostat failed I decided to go digital and bought this thermostat. The electrical connections were a little bit different but the instructions on the thermostat were good enough for a clean installation. I set it up and it works great. It also interacted well with my old furnace. The interaction of an old furnace with a new thermostat is seamless. The only thing that I don't like is that the thermostat does not tell you when the batteries are failing. The thermostat operation just stops. I woke up one time and the temperature in the bedroom was cold. I felt like I was sleeping outdoors. Then I came down to look at the thermostat and noticed that the screen was blank. I replaced the batteries and then everything was good but it took the furnace a while to get the temperature back up.
