Review: Don't let the price fool you, these are great quality sounding ear buds for under £60. - This is my first experience of an Anker Soundcore product and of true wireless ear buds. I wanted to use them for a few weeks before reviewing them as I am really fussy with my listening experience, I usually use wired headphones, Byerdynamic, Sennheiser, I researched thoroughly online and read lots of reviews before deciding to take the plunge and buy these Soundcore Liberty Air 2 ear buds and I have to say I have not been disappointed with them. These are really nice looking ear buds and the box they come in is of a really good quality, and feels like a premium product. You get the buds, the charging case, and 7 different sized pairs of silicone ear tips so you should find a size that fits great. 1) Bluetooth Pairing & Battery: I didn't have any problems pairing the buds to my devices, a tablet, phone and an mp3 player. It paired straight away, but you have to make sure once you initially connect the Soundcore Liberty Air 2, you also pair Soundcore Liberty Air 2-L which is the left ear bud. To do this you will get a pop up that says "Bluetooth Pairing Request". It should come up automatically and then this will allow you to use either ear bud solo for phone calls etc there are youtube videos that show how to do this and other reviewers on here have also given very good instructions on how to pair correctly. The ear buds also use the aptx codec so if your device is compatible when you connect to it, it will connect using aptx to give a stable, clear connection. You can swap which ear bud is master and which is slave to even out the battery use as the master connection will obviously use more battery than the slave, but replacing the right ear bud back into the charging case will then automatically switch the master to the left ear bud, then you can remove the right ear bud from the case and continue to listen to music etc. I find this helps to even out the battery use a bit more. Depending how loud you listen to music, the battery lasts quite well. I would say 6 hours is fair and you get 3 more charges from the case. 2) Sound Quality: These ear buds sound great, I was surprised how good they sound for true wireless buds considering I'm used to wired headphones. You have to make sure you have the right size of silicone tip fitted to ensure a good seal in the ear. This way you get a great sound with more than ample bass. The bass is not too heavy or muddy and doesn't drown out the mids and the highs are crisp and clear. Lots of reviews say they find these tinny and not very loud but I don't agree. There is plenty bass and if you use the Soundcore App you can adjust the equaliser to get the sound you want. There are lots of pre set sounds for you to choose from or you can make your own settings. It is very good. They are also very loud. I cannot listen on maximum volume as they are too loud. If you set your device you're using to listen to music at full volume then use the touch controls on the buds to adjust the volume louder or quieter you can make them go very loud. I can't comment on call quality as I only use them for listening to music and I don't exercise with them though I think they would be ok for light exercise and they feel quite secure in the ear. 3) Touch Controls & Soundcore App: I find the touch controls very responsive, and in the Soundcore App you can change the touch controls to your own preference as to what 1 tap, 2 taps, long press do for each ear bud so it's very flexible. You can adjust volume using the touch controls meaning you don't have to reach for your phone every time. 4) Charging Case: The charging case is a nice size, fits into a pocket ok, and the case has a nice textured feel to it and the buds are held in with magnets and the lid has a satisfying close to it. The charging case uses a USB C cable which is short so you will have to be close to a plug to use it unless you have a longer spare USB C cable lying around the house. The case charges up within 2 hours and you also have a fast charge where 10 mins charge will give you 2 hours playtime. Another bonus is you can wirelessly charge the case so if you have a compatible wireless charger there is no need for USB C charging cable though it will take a little longer to fully charge. You also get the choice of colours, either black or white buds though personally I opted for the black as they look really smart and premium. 5) No Ambient Mode: One thing the buds don't have is ambient mode and because they have very good passive noise cancellation, if you are using them outside, you need to be aware of your surroundings as you cannot adjust them to allow outside sound in. To summarise, I really like these ear buds, for the price I actually think they are fantastic, not sure how many others out there have the features, app, and quality sound these have for under £60. I haven't experienced any dropouts, connection has been stable, there is no background noise or hiss that some people have mentioned though I think if you have the latest firmware update on the app you should be ok. I would definitely recommend these but ultimately sound preference is a very personal choice but I think for most people you won't be disappointed with these.
Review: Better than AirPods? Yes, I reckon so. - My wife and I have had several different wired and wireless earphones (as well as headphones - a separate category) over the years, including a pair of 2nd generation Apple AirPods (not the Pro), but the Liberty Air 2 earbuds knock spots off them all for truly outstanding sound quality and everyday wearability, which comes as something of a surprise to me, as I am a pretty unconditional Apple fan. Unlike most earphones that claim to offer noise cancellation, these really do work, and make conversations comprehensible for both speaker and listener in all conditions, including the most challenging, such as heavy traffic noise and (at the other and even more difficult end of the scale) windy weather when out and about, which defeats most earphones. The battery life is exceptional (and significantly better than the AirPods), the wireless charging case works very well (I’d baulked at the extra cost of wireless charging for the AirPods), and fast-charging really ‘does what it says on the tin’ - ten minutes will easily give you an extra two hours’ use. My wife mainly uses these when out hiking or walking, when she listens to music and podcasts, but also for yoga and Pilates. She finds that the HearID technology suits her ideally, as she suffers from tinnitus, and these earphones actually help reduce the effects of what can be a very bothersome condition. I have used them less often (to be fair, they were a Christmas present for my wife!), but have been borrowing them from time to time since we have been in home isolation as a result of the Coronavirus Crisis, and have been frankly astonished how good they are for making and receiving calls in all that British weather can throw at one! The right ear ‘master earphone’ system was a little confusing at first, but we got quickly used to it (in a few words, the right earpiece connects to one’s iPhone or other smart phone by Bluetooth, and then links to the left earpiece directly rather than separately with the phone). It is recommended to place one’s phone on the righthand side of one’s body, to ensure optimum connectivity, but this is truly not an issue, which I’m pleased about as a left-hander. The app offers you the opportunity to configure the controls as best suits you (whether you want simpler or more sophisticated is a matter of brain power - my poor old grey matter likes such controls to be pretty basic, whereas my wife’s more sophisticated musical ear really appreciates the fine tuning that is possible). The carry case is far sturdier than Apple’s and indeed the earphones feel more solid and less fragile than the AirPods in general. We did have a problem with the left earphone ‘dropping out’ (just possibly as a result of being used in heavy rain, although they have good waterproofing) but they were very quickly replaced by the wonderful Customer Care team at Anker. This is the first time I have ever needed to use an Anker warranty - I’ve never even had to replace one of their lifetime guaranteed cables, and it was a real pleasure to deal with them. No-one else I know who has the Liberty 2 Air earphones has ever had a problem with them, which I can’t say of AirPods or other makes. We had terrible trouble with Bose Sleep Buds for example. In summary, I would be astonished if you could find such high quality earphones at such a competitive price anywhere else. And what’s more, the quality is across the whole board: great build quality, superb sound quality for both music and speech, really effective noise cancellation, easy tap controls, top-end adjustment and personalisation features through the HearID functionality, and a really easy to use and intuitive app. Highly recommended!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is it possible to pair each earbud with a different device at the same time? (I am often switching between using audio on my phone and on my laptop.)**
A: Yes， you can do this by the following steps:
- Take the right earbuds out of the charging case, and put the left side into the charging case
- Press and hold the button on the bottom of the charging case for 10 seconds until the LED indicators on left earbuds flash red light, then you will see a breath light on the left side
- Then press and hold the button on the bottom of the charging case for 3 seconds until the light on the left side become quick flash.
- After this, you can pair the left and the right earbuds to two devices separately.

**Q: Are they comfortable for sleeping with when on your side?**
A: Don't think so. They are heavy and will fall out. I've just returned mine.

**Q: How do you hear out of both on ipad 7th generation?**
A: Please help us do the following steps:
1. Place the earbuds into the charging case and make sure they are being charged. When you put the left earbuds into the charging case, the left LED light on charging case will flash 2 times which means the earbuds is charging, please also note the right side will also do the same time, when you put it into charging case, the right LED light on charging case will also flash.
2. Keep the charging case open, then press and hold the button on the bottom of the charging case for 10 seconds until the LED indicators on both earbuds flash red 3 times. All the memory data will be cleared, then close the charging case.
3. Re-open the charging case or take both sides out of the charging case, the white light on one side will flash quickly, which means it enters pairing mode
4. Enable the Bluetooth on your bluetooth devices. You can find the device name "Soundbuds Liberty Air 2" or "Soundcore Liberty Air 2-L" on the Bluetooth list.
5. Please click "Soundbuds Liberty Air 2" or "Soundcore Liberty Air 2-L" for pairing, the white light will flash slowly, which means it paired successfully.
6. Then there will pop out a screen with "Bluetooth Pairing Request", just click "Pair" (This step is very important)

After these, you can hear out of both on ipad 7th generation.

**Q: can anyone recommend earhooks to fit these?**
A: I personally wouldn't recommend earhooks although this idea floated in my head well before I bought these. I can see the point, but at the same time to think about it, it really defeats the purpose. I bought mine below £60 with discount so they are not like £100-£200 plus etc to worry, but good sound quality indeed!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really good wireless earphones and a useful app too.
*by G***H on 3 July 2020*

I bought these a little while ago and wanted to spend some time with them to give a truly reflective review. Me? I'm an ex-musician in my mid 50's with bad tinnitus, minor loss of audible high frequencies and several other nagging hearing problems. The Pros: These earphones have a great sound, really great. The clarity is what strikes you first with a logical EQ built into the iPhone app adjusting these to suit my hearing was a doddle. I tried the hearing test included in the app but this left me with unbalanced sound and a right earphone that was louder than the left. It was probably correct but I didn't like the resulting balance. The sound itself was glorious. Earlier this week I walked my dogs along a cliff in blustery conditions and was astounded at how good the noise isolation was. I was listening to a chat show podcast and had no difficulty hearing every word spoken without having to turn the volume up. Unexpectedly incredible. Using a single earphone on the phone is a great too. Halfway through a call I can just add the second earphone into the mix without any confusion or drop of signal. They work really well. The Cons: The fit of these is a little awkward. I have the largest ear buds on them and my left earphone keeps coming loose. It has only fallen out once and this was at home but I'm a little uneasy about this. I would like bigger earbuds. I wish the gain on these could be turned up. I have bad hearing (I know you know!) and I need headphones that go to the equivalent volume of 12 and not 10. Could the app be sorted to accommodate this? It wouldn't be difficult? I suffer occasional connection problems. Really occasional. But just pop the earphones back into the case for a few seconds and they come right back to you. And lastly...... Anker have one of the best customer support personnel I have ever encountered. Michelle (you know who you are) is an absolute angel and she keeps Anker's brand name at the top of my preference list. I needed very little help but could not have asked for better service. You can buy Anker products with extreme confidence. Thanks.
