Review: Back up Generator restored to working condition. - A perfect fit/replacement for 14 year old failed, original equipment part. Nothing lasts forever but I hope to get another 14 years out of this part.
Review: Replacement part - Our GE 20 KW home standby generator had a problem that we didn't know about!. The unit started and ran well every week the 20 minutes it's programmed to. The utility failed when a part on the transformer to our house failed and the generator tried to start several times but would not, showed an error on the control board and the trouble light at the transfer switch. The blue light was flashing 4 times. Engine Fault!. After the utility company fixed the problem in a timely manner as always. I started trouble shooting. All the wires were connected, tight and correctly. Simulated a utility failure by switching the transfer switch main off and the generator would crank but would not start. But the generator would start in the manual mode and would run weekly as programmed. Also noticed that battery was low on voltage. So more trouble shooting and I found the control board was faulty. The control board has the battery charger built in the system and the 8 year old battery was not getting it's charge from the system. Ordered the control board from desertcart, arrived fast, well packaged and it was the right part. I removed the fuse, disconnected the weak battery and pulled the 2 fuses to the generator in the transfer switch. No power what so ever to the generator. Opened the control panel box and READ the directions. Wire connections are tight so wiggle and pull carefully! I took several pictures of the wires, but replaced them one at a time from the old control board to the new one. I also carefully inspected the new board to the old to make sure it was correct. Replaced it, reinstalled transfer switch fuses and replaced the 8 year old battery that was already weak. Simulated a utility failure and it stared fine and transferred power as needed. Why all this, the part was priced right, arrived on a Sunday and was new in a sealed box. I have learned that I should do a simulated power failure every now and then to to make sure all is OK. Just because your unit starts and runs well doesn't mean it will start and run when you need it at 3 AM with a foot of snow and ice outside, or a severe thunderstorm. CHECK your generator!! IE, oil, keep the area clean around it and do a simulated power failure now and then. See that the air vents are not block by debris. We've had this generator almost 8 years this is the first problem I've had with it, regular maintenance is cheap. desertcart sales all the maintenance parts Thank you desertcart for fast delivery, the right price, right parts.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great replacement
*by D***J on July 23, 2025*

Excellent replacement. The factory boards seem to fail after about 10 years and begin to throw random error codes. This new board solved all the problems. Simple repair. Make sure you kill all power, including 240V monitor line. Ask me how I know.....
