A small axe for outdoor use in forests and open land. Made from blasted and clear-lacquered ironwork, it is also suitable for work in the garden. The shaft is curved and made from hickory. An edge protector is included. The axe is hand-forged and made from Swedish axe steel using traditional methods in use since 1697. The steel is stuck several times, increasing its density and thereby the durability of the axe. Has a clear tempered zone within which the axe can be sharpened whilst not detracting from the strength of the edge. The shaft is made from hickory and treated with linseed oil.

**Q: Is it easy to use**
A: Yes it's beautiful to use.  Ordinarily with wood handles, even hickory handles often you find your hand slips off and could be tempted to rubberised handles. This is shaped excellently so there is no problem with slip. It's head is shaped well to split logs so,it opens them up rather than getting stuck like many less wedge shaped axes can.

**Q: Does it come with a sheath please?**
A: Mine came with a small blade protection sheath.  Genuine leather, nothing less :).Alex

**Q: What's the quality of this axe, in terms of the glue used to hold the hatchet head in place?**
A: Great quality for the price....i have not seen the axe head fly off and am sure it will not

**Q: Size and weight of this axe please?**
A: sorry it was a present for somebody and it has gone.
