The 935, lid organiser and padded dividers are all excellent quality, which is difficult to appreciate from photos. Despite this organiser being quite obviously designed to store a laptop, Nanuk don’t advertise it as such. Prehaps they don’t want liability incase your laptop gets damaged. But the 935 is so solid I feel pretty confident to store my laptop in it. The surface against the inside of the lid is rubberised, the panel has some soft padding. The gusset is approx 1in deep with thin neoprene at the base and edges so can accommodate my 14’ MacBook Pro with or without its soft case. Zip pulls are made from nice rubberised material with red elasticated conceal. The transparent compartments are strong, smooth on the outside, lightly textured on inside. Fitting was easy enough to fit with glued Velcro and two screws along the top edge. Despite the excellent quality I still feel it is quite expensive but you soon get over it once you experience Nanuk. Review: This is probably the best lid organizer ever constructed for these style cases. Unfortunately its made/designed specifically for the Nanuk 935 whereas I have a Pelican 1510. BUT since the 935 and 1510 are almost identical twins I scoured the web to see if anyone had successfully installed this lid. Sadly I didnt find a single mention of it so I assumed it wasnt possible. As I looked for lid organizers designed for the 1510 I could only compare them to the LIDO... and they all sucked. Luckily a few weeks ago most authorized retailers started selling the LIDO for 50% off its list price of $125. When that happened I finally decided to pull the trigger and give it a try. When I got it, i got excited bcos it was ALMOST a good fit. There were two things that prevented it from perfection. First were the outer trim. They obstructed the 1510's lid seal and wouldnt allow it to close at all. The trim would have to go somehow but I didnt want to cut it bcos that would leave a gap around the lid and the lid organizer unless you were using some automated precision cutting tool no matter how careful or true your cut was by hand. Secondly the screw mounts which are part of the 1510"s lid case (pictured) prevented the organizer from sitting flush with the lid. It was only a few millimeters but bcos the organizer was not designed to use or work around those mounting points it was an obstruction. Long story short, i used a drill, a heat gun, a screwdriver and a couple of washers and screws to get it done and make it look flawless. Very pleased with how it turned out and its super secure. I just installed one. **Q: As a "first-timer" I'm wondering, how does the cubed foam work, do I need to cut it out to fit my equipment?** A: While the advertisement and some of the answers indicate that it is indeed cubed foam, it is nowhere near the ease that you find with pick & pluck foam. As you try to part the pieces you’ll find that you often either need scissors or a box cutter for the configuration desired.I ended up using a cheap electric foam cutter that uses a hot wire for some of the finer cuts I needed. It took me a lot longer to configure a case for several sensitive pieces than it would have had I ordered an empty case separately then ordered the true Pickin pluck foam. There was a lot more mess trying to customize the form that comes with this case . Yes if it’s just a few large puiecez you want to protect, this will work. As a technique, I place each item on the foam and trace it with a black felt tip pen before trying to handle the thick sheets that come with the unit. **Q: Crush resistant? Can an average sized adult sit on the case when it's laying down, on top of the lid, and not have the lid collapse, sink, or bow?** A: Yes. I sitnon the case often while it's in the back of our work van and it's very sturdy. If you are still on the fence, these are far better than pelican, and the extra money is well worth it for the quality you get. The latches, hinges, foam, everything is excellent quality. Only thing missing is the extra screws and holes for mounting perm. in the box. I'd prefer to see it shipped with stainless fasteners and be pre-holed for the fasteners. Also needs washers/hardened hole protectors to stop the holes pulling thru.
