I got them for several reasons. Some were pre-emptive, to copy and for the most part to replace remotes that would be difficult to replace, and instead of wearing out the original remote (which I have done with several), I use these, and if they ever wear out, then I can just program another from the original. Another is to program them with a reduced selection of choices, so that the stuff you use the most is right there, with no searching. For pedestal fan remotes, which there are no replacements for, I programed the up and down volumes and up and down channel buttons to both increase/decrease the speed of the fan, etc. Very useful and easy to program from the original! BTW: I had a problem of having no remote, and for a device that the remote could not be bought second source. I searched for custom remotes, and this was too many years ago for me to have any records of it. So, I don't know who I got it from. However, I still have the custom remote, and it is a REDI REMOTE. Search Amazon on 'redi remote' results in many of these preprogrammed as replacements for hard-to-find remotes. After getting this remote, I programmed one of these CHUNGHOP L102's with the most used functions, and the REDI REMOTE is stashed safely away, in case of needing a seldom used function, or the CHUNGHOP programmable needing to be replaced. And FYI: I use only Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries in my remotes, as they never leak, whereas I have had many remotes (and many other items) damaged by leaking alkaline batteries. These batteries are available at Amazon, and as noted in some of the reviews, the cost more, but last longer, and NEVER LEAK, and shelf life is 20-years! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great *by D***N on July 19, 2025* Works great. Easy to program. Great deal ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ To replace a lost remote or a simpler duplicate. *by J***L on February 17, 2025* So for ten dollars, it is a pretty good bargain for a programmable remote. I have a Pioneer Elite receiver that I obtained for almost nothing. It is a complex multi-channel gizmo. It is in good condition, except that the volume control knob on the unit is very unreliable, and the remote control was absent. (The remote on this thing was huge and had hundreds of buttons and functions. Without it, it was almost useless since the volume control did not work.)However, I have access to Logitech Harmony programmable remote. I could have bought one for $200 but I decided on the economy route. A Harmony can download the remote programming for almost any domestic AV device. So I downloaded the remote for this Pioneer, and used it to program the power, volume and selection buttons on this programmable remote. It would have cost $100 just to have the stereo repair shop diagnose the volume knob problem.One caution on the programming process: you may have to tilt this remote to have it sense the signal from the original remote instead of just pointing them at each other. As far as I can tell, the receiving diode is at an angle internally from the only hole in the unit and tilting the programmable remote was needed to get a good reception. Once completed, this felt like a pretty cool fix for this problem. I think it is also good for a simpler remote if your original is needlessly complicated and heavy.As long as it lasts, this is a great fix! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy Programming. Does the Job I Needed *by F***C on June 25, 2025* Was exactly what I needed. A receiver I bought is a full-featured Audio-Visual receiver. Consequently, it has 45 buttons crowded into the small real estate of the remote, making many of them tiny. Problem is that I am only using the audio functions which needs 6 buttons (Power, vol up, vol down, next track, prev track, pause/play). Some of those buttons on the remote that came with the receiver are tiny and mixed in with others. Have to get on my glasses and search to find.Solution was this learning remote. I bought it and programed the 6 buttons. Programming was straight-forward and easy. I have five left over in case I decide I need some more.
