I did two coates of 4 paintings and used less than one quarter cup of varnish. I purchased a varnish brush which was fine. Just be aware of looking carefully as you work to pick off any loose brush hairs that may have come off. Clean up was not difficult. I patted off any varnish on the brush with a paper towel, dipped the bristles in abit of olive oil and worked it in to remove residue, wiped and patted off once more than washed with warm water and a drop or two of Dawn dish soap, rinsed and let dry!
