The contact points are different. They are simply dedicated to either Nikon or Canon so you can mount the transmitter on your camera hotshoe then you can add your canon or Nikon flash on top of the transmitter and maintain your ttl connection to your larger flash that is mounted to the transmitter. You could use a Nikon transmitter on a canon camera if you did not need to use a TTL connection using the flash on top of the transmitter. **Q: If you set up multiple lights into different groups, can you trigger multiple groups at a time? or is it just one group at a time?** A: There are 4 groups available ABC&D, and you can pick any or all of them. In addition there are 4 channels available 123&4.
