A lot of work was put into this and it shows. The only thing I wasn't very satisfied with was the quality of the paper - it's on the thin side. It's almost too easy to crinkle and may not do well in some environments over time. However, I can't complain too much because there's nothing else like it out there. Very comprehensive and great reference material. So if you're looking for a grammar book to really cover everything then you would not be disappointed. There are examples for everything, so you can get a feel for the usages. I'd recommend also seeking out a good book with dialogue and audio for your studies. This however is a great reference and learning tool. Let's just hope they're listening and update it with better paper; because 45 USD is a lot. Totally worth it in knowledge though. Every student should have this. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great book but could always be better *by L***I on Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2019* When I first bought this book, it was of little help because I didn't understand it. As I advanced my tagalog it has helped me alot. It is quick reference when you have a problem and I have found out most native speakers don't know how to explain things. The negative things about the book are the lack of examples. They could be more examples and also the grammer rules on certain conjucations. Such as whenever an IN verb is conjuncation against L,R, Y it will be conjunucated differently. Overall a great buy and I will buy it again. If you're serious about learning tagalog you need this book, If you are looking to learn a few phrases, a couple bad words. Then this book is not for you. The explanations contained in the book are clear, concise and well-presented. The book has a wealth of examples to reinforce the explanations. It is obvious a great deal of painstaking work went into this worthy effort. Fortunately, Essential Tagalog Grammar is not meant for grammarians only. It is well-suited to novices as well as those who are already conversant in the language.
