Well worth the wait!
I’ve been waiting for the Third Edition of the “Trigger Point Manual” for years. This book is well worth the wait. I can’t claim to have read it cover to cover yet, but after spending some time with it, it seems to be a wonderful blend of keeping the comprehensive and groundbreaking information from the first two volumes while adding copious amounts of new information. The Third Edition includes the voices of many highly respected experts in the field of myofascial pain. This is a valuable addition to the volume and that, along with numerous new references from recent research, will be helpful to new clinicians wishing to learn to comprehensively treat myofascial pain. It is also a great resource for those of us who have been in the field for decades but always strive to know more and be better at what we do.I love my very worn Travell & Simons’ volumes 1 and 2 but I know that this combined Third Edition is destined to be my new “go to” book.It is especially nice that the whole body is in one volume. I also applaud the removal of the “x” from the trigger point diagrams.Thank you to Joseph Donnelly and all of the other writers and contributors for what must have been a gargantuan effort. I know it will inspire many current and future practitioners to be more thorough in their evaluation and treatment of patients and will thereby provide more relief for innumerable pain sufferers.

Such a thorough resource
As a medical professional, this is a must have. I'm a neuromuscular therapist and this text provides the most updated, thorough research you need to know. The text is heavy for those new to medical terminology but don't let that deter you. Start by reading and re-reading, condense and simplify the material as best as you can and slowly start to add more details. This resource provides anatomical specificity and even includes when there may be variations of a muscle within the population. It provides a section for symptoms, TrP activations/ perpetuations, patient examination, and corrective actions for each muscle described. There's also a Myofascial Pain section and Postural Considerations section that I found insightful.

I bought this for a practitioner who had an earlier edition. As the patient and with his reports and experience I have benefited first hand so much.

Worthy Addition for All Medical Professionals
This important 3rd edition to the definitive myofascial medicine texts of Travell and Simons builds on their strong foundations. It is entirely evidence-based medicine. The research in this field is surging, and is presented in a coherent and precise way. This edition is streamlined, so keep the valuable 1st and 2nd editions, but it will also stand alone with whatever is needed to improve patient care. It provides streamlined and accessible information, while eliminating some of the misunderstandings that might have confused some readers of the first editions. It should also firmly silence those who would deny the reality and ubiquity of myofascial trigger prints and their importance in the world of chronic pain and dysfunction.

Not exactly what I expected.
I was a bit disappointed that this book didn't specify the actual trigger point spot for each area of pain it was referencing . I have other charts done by Travell, Simons & Simons that shows this and I was expecting this to do the same but in more depth. This book is well written and laid out, but I don't use it like I thought I would and for the price, that sucks for me.
