Q: Does it record in stereo?

The previous answer is incorrect, the boombox records in Mono not Stereo.

Q: Does anyone know of any tips or tricks to make recordings sound half decent and not crackly or like the artist is under water?

What a surprise the importers of this is defending it. Half decent sellers would be honest. It's that bad mines in the bin.

Q: Will thus output to alexa? or will it only take audio via bluetooth from another device? i want to play my tapes but have them output via alexa. thank

Good god no,,,, please save your money its terrible

Q: how loud is the speakers ?

I wouldn’t bother as it isn’t even stereo. Only mono reproduction (same sound from both speakers). It’s the worst player on the market.
