Q: The inlet and outlets are smaller than the old pump on my hot spring jet setter spa. Watkins 5000 pump. How doo i install this or is this not the righ

I would re-confirm that. The inlet/outlet of the replacement pump I received was identical to the original. I also replaced all the tubing in my tub when I changed out the circ. pump- I'm not sure what the original tubing type was, but I used Tygon E-3603 with an ID of 3.4" and an OD on 1-1/8" (so far, it's holding up fine)

Q: How many horsepower is this pump

This is a circulation pump so it's probably a small fraction of 1 HP (Flow rate ~4GPM)

Q: How does this little thing replace the large pump? I’m stumped just looking at this project.

It only replaces the same size pump that circulates the water that us running through the heater and filters. It is running all of the time. The large pumps are for the Jets. It worked for me.
